Message I'll use 1 example - the VQ30 motor (maxima and I30) use chain drive. they are quiet, efficient and high compression and are lubricated by oil pressure.

With todays technology there is no need to use belts EXCEPT to save money. Chain drive is just as good and lasts a LOT longer. It starts getting noisier before it breakes and give you ample warning and does not flex like a belt.
